Chris finill

Chris has put on national vests on several occasions. He has run seven times for Great Britain and four times for England.

He has participated at the IAU 100 km World Championships in Taiwan (2003), European 24hr Championships in Italy (2006) and the IAU 24 World Challenge in Drummondville (2007).

Chris has completed all 28 London Marathons he has taken part in so far and he remains the only person to have done each one of them under 3 hours. His best time for the 100 km is 7:17 and his best distance for the 24 hrs is 243 km.

Chris is contemplating to continue his sub-3hr streak to 30 marathons in London. He is also attempting to run across the continental US from San Francisco to New York City in 2011.

Nadeem Khan (NK): What are your thoughts on running in the Commonwealth Series?

Chris Finill (CF): Having represented Great Britain seven times at both European and World Championships it will be my first international appearance at a major games.


NK: How will this race be different from your other international races?

CF: First international 24 hours on home soil – others have been in Italy and Canada.


NK: The thing you are most looking forward to at the Championships…

CF: Getting to the last hour of the 24 hours in good shape with a really good performance in the bag. Let’s hope that’s how it works out!

NK: Most memorable athletic moment…

CF: Collapsing at the end of my last 24 hour race with a distance of 151 miles – the furthest by an Englishman for 17 years.


NK: What is your typical training week?

CF: 50 miles of varied running  usually including a race.


NK: Your biggest supporter in your running career…

CF: My wife, Julia and my minder, Andy Smith.

NK: If you could train with a marathon celebrity, who would you pick?

CF: Haile Gebrselassie or Paula Radcliffe.
